Several Kansas City Chiefs players were asked questions about wrestling during their Opening Night media session. But none of them could have been as prepared to answer as San Francisco 49ers tight end George Kittle was Monday night.

The All-Pro tight end is the Super Bowl LVIII authority on pro wrestling, so when his first question was about WrestleMania, he was more than thrilled.

“We’re starting off hot, and I love it,” said Kittle, who made his WrestleMania debut last April and owns more than 10 lucha libra hats, including one that is 49ers’ red and gold and has his number 85 on it.

Kittle then launched into a dream wrestling scenario involving WWE champion Roman Reigns, Cody Rhodes (who lost to Reigns at WrestleMania 39), and Dwayne “The Rock” Johnson, who’s been rumored as an opponent for Roman Reigns at WrestleMania XL in April.

“I’m a huge Cody Rhodes fan,” Kittle said. I like Roman Reigns. The Rock. I mean, hey, he coined the phrase, ‘The people’s tight end.’ So I’m indebted to the Rock. Huge fan of him.

“Honestly, my dream would be kind of a setup. … I saw this online. Roman shows up, signs a contract. Cody shows up. The Rock referees. Wouldn’t that be fun and special. Let’s make it fun and interesting. It wasn’t my own idea, but I thought it was pretty cool.”

Kittle, who’s been invited to five Pro Bowls, has his own heavyweight battle on Sunday in Super Bowl LVIII. He vowed to return to the Super Bowl after the 49ers lost four years ago to the same Kansas City Chiefs.

On Monday night, he stood on the stage with fellow tight end Travis Kelce of the Kansas City Chiefs, and was asked who the tight end was.

But the tight ends, who are friends off the field, said they would let their teams decide on Sunday instead.
