This time is like Christmas for NFL scouts and front offices, identifying key traits that can help their team take the next step from fringe contender to playoff competitors. But a former member of the Tennessee Titans is now dealing with a much more serious situation than someone improving their football team in preparation for the 2024 season kickoff.

According to ESPN’s Adam Rittenberg, Blaise Taylor, who is a former Titans scout and previous Arkansas State football star, has been arrested on suspicion of committing murder.

U.S. marshals arrested the 27-year-old Waco, Texas native on Thursday night in Utah on the suspicion that he poisoned his girlfriend and their unborn child in Nashville, Tennessee. Taylor is facing two counts of first-degree murder after allegedly poisoning Jade Benning in February of 2023. She died less than a month later in March, on her 25th birthday.

Oddly enough, Taylor was the one who called 911, indicating Benning was having an allergic reaction. But her condition quickly took a turn for the worse, where she was no longer able to speak with law enforcement officials before she passed away.

Taylor became well-known in the sports community during his time with the Red Wolves, where the cornerback became a four-year starter. While he wasn’t able to parlay his college career into playing at the pro level, he did land a job with the Titans, where he quickly rose the ranks in their pro scout department. Yet, Taylor eventually left Tennessee and joined Utah State as a senior defensive analyst for the 2023 season. However, his most recent work seems to be with the Texas A&M Aggies, where Taylor can be found listed in the team employee directory.

Nashville police are currently in the process of transferring Taylor back to Tennessee, where the alleged crime occurred.
