Evgeni Malkin will make his 2021-22 debut Tuesday night after the Pittsburgh Penguins activated him from injured reserve.
Malkin, 35, underwent knee surgery in June and has been recovering since. The Russian winger and longtime linemate of Sidney Crosby has not played since a playoff game on May 26, after initially being injured in March and missing six weeks.
The 2012 Hart Trophy winner has 1,104 points (424 goals, 680 assists) in 940 games over his 15-season career with Pittsburgh.
The Penguins play at the Anaheim Ducks on Tuesday night. Pittsburgh is coming off a loss to the Dallas Stars that snapped its NHL-best 10-game winning streak.
