Seattle Seahawks’ Devon Witherspoon puts up 97-yard pick-six of Daniel Jones to ice game

Making just his third appearances in a regular-season outing, Seattle Seahawks rookie Devon Witherspoon was already giving New York Giants quarterback Daniel Jones nightmares on Monday night.

That included the rookie No. 5 pick recording two sacks of Jones in less than three quarters of action. If this wasn’t enough, Witherspoon pretty much put the game on ice late in the third quarter.

With New York trailing 14-3 and just over a minute remaining in the quarter, it was looking to make this a one-score game. Instead, the Seahawks took a three-score lead via an absolutely absurd 97-yard pick-six to give Seattle a 21-3 lead.

Check it out.

First off, we have absolutely no idea what Jones was doing here. He legitimately telegraphed that pass for Devon Witherspoon. Neither Giants receiver out on the flat had anything that resembled a chance to come down with the catch.

As for Witherspoon, there’s a reason he was the consensus No. 1 cornerback in the 2023 NFL Draft. After missing the first game of the season to injury, Witherspoon has more than stepped up for Seattle.

In fact, the youngster entered Monday night having yielded a mere 41.7% completion when targeted through two games. Could he soon be the new leader of Legion of Boom 2.0 in the Pacific Northwest?
