A new report claims the Detroit Pistons could jump into the chase for highly sought-after Toronto Raptors forward OG Anunoby.
The start of the 2023-24 season for the Detroit Pistons has been an absolute disaster. Despite bringing in former NBA Coach of the Year Monty Williams and drafting for Overtime Elite star Ausar Thompson, the team is in the midst of one of the worst losing streaks in franchise history.

Heading into their game on Monday night against the Atlanta Hawks, Detroit has lost 22 straight and is closing in on the all-time record of 28 straight that was set by the 2014-15 and 2015-16 Philadelphia 76ers. Something needs to change soon for the two-win team so they can try and have a better finish to the season and build toward a real turnaround year in 2024-25.
Detroit Pistons record (2023): 2-24
One avenue the Pistons have to upgrade their roster is the NBA trade market before the deadline in February. A player who is likely to be up for grabs is Toronto defensive ace and rising star OG Anunoby. The forward had many suitors last winter, however, the Raptors’ asking price was reportedly quite high with a year left on his contract.
However, with this being his walk year there may be a strong chance that he is finally moved and Detroit reportedly wants in on the sweepstakes. According to The Athletic NBA reporter James L. Edwards III, “Detroit is expected to be active in the trade market over the next few weeks and are eying a forward. One player I’m hearing that the Pistons are interested in, as is the rest of the league, is Toronto’s OG Anunoby.”
Edwards III does note that the Detroit Pistons could decide to wait until the summer and try to sign the 26-year-old when he hits free agency. Furthermore, he suggests that Philadelphia 76ers veteran Tobias Harris could be another target for the Pistons soon.
