Detroit Lions Pro Bowl center Frank Ragnow will have season-ending surgery on his injured toe, multiple outlets reported Tuesday.

Ragnow was placed on injured reserve after suffering the toe injury in Week 4. The hope was that it would be a short-term stay on IR, with Ragnow returning at some point this season.

Ragnow, 25, became the NFL’s highest-paid center in May after signing a four-year contract extension worth $13.5 million per season.

Ragnow has started 49 games since being selected by the Lions with the 20th overall pick in the 2018 NFL Draft. A Pro Bowl selection in 2020, Ragnow missed two games last season with a fractured throat.

The Lions (0-5) host the Cincinnati Bengals (3-2) on Sunday.
