It took the Denver Nuggets nearly a half-century since their inception back in 1967 to hoist the Larry O’Brien Trophy.
Denver did just that in the NBA Finals this past June, taking out the Miami Heat in five games. It was an absolutely amazing run for eventual Finals MVP Nikola Jokic and Co.
As the Nuggets begin preparations for defending their title Tuesday evening against LeBron James and the Los Angeles Lakers, they unveiled their championship rings. To say that these things are amazing would be an understatement.
The photos don’t even do them justice. Check out the video. It’s even more sensational.
The emerald-shaped ring has 16 carats of diamonds. This represents Denver’s 16 postseason wins. The Larry O’Brien Trophy is on the front with a diamond “Nuggets” written across and a silhouette of Denver’s mountain peak.
Nuggets players were in awe as they got a look at their new rings for the first time, too.
Jason of Beverly Hills was intrusted to make the rings for the Denver Nuggets. And even before their release, there were rumors floating about how great they were going to be.
“From what I’ve been hearing through the grapevine, it’s better than any ring he’s done,” Denver Nuggets wing Kentavious Caldwell-Pope told ESPN.
Denver is seen as one of the top favorites to win the NBA title this season. Jokic returns with stars Jamal Murray and Michael Porter Jr. as well as a great supporting cast. This is their night to celebrate as they take on a Lakers team that joins others in hopes of dethroning the defending champions.
