The Denver Broncos needed a quarterback heading into the 2024 NFL Draft. They moved off the failed Russell Wilson experience after two seasons. They acquired draft bust Zach Wilson from the New York Jets in the days leading up to the draft.

Yeah, it wasn’t a great situation for Sean Payton and Co. heading into the first round of the draft Thursday night from Detroit.

Did the Broncos make it any better? We’re not sold.

After seeing five quarterbacks go off the board within the first-11 picks of the draft, Denver reached for former Oregon signal caller Bo Nix at 12. Here is a player who was not mentioned anywhere near this slot leading up to the draft. In fact, there was a lot of talk about Nix potentially falling to the second round.

Obviously in a terrible quarterback situation, it’s an open question whether the Broncos panicked after seeing the likes of Caleb Williams, Jayden Daniels, Drake Maye, Michael Penix and J.J. McCarthy go off the board before their selection.

One thing is rather clear. Denver is heading into the 2024 NFL season with a quarterback room of Bo Nix, Zach Wilson and Jarrett Stidham. This isn’t even quarterback purgatory, it’s a disaster class of epic proportions. Heck, we can hear defensive coordinators in Las Vegas, Los Angeles and Kansas City laughing in unison.
