If the 2024 NFL season started today, the Denver Broncos would begin the year with Jarrett Stidham as their starting quarterback, and Ben DiNucci would be his top backup. Yet, with only quarterbacks on the roster, you can be sure GM George Paton will add at least one more signal-caller to coach Sean Payton’s roster before the team’s season opener.
While plenty of free agent options remain, such as Ryan Tannehill, the Broncos will likely turn to the 2024 NFL Draft to fill out their quarterback depth chart. However, since they hold the 12th pick, it’s possible the Broncos will miss out on each of the top four and possibly the top five quarterbacks. So who’s even left?
Oregon’s Bo Nix.
According to FanDuel, the Denver Broncos are now the overwhelming betting favorites to draft Bo Nix, with odds of +120. The Las Vegas Raiders and New York Giants are tied for second place in this instance, with +700 odds. The Minnesota Vikings are next up at +950. Other teams listed include the New Orleans Saints and Seattle Seahawks, both teams who could be looking for another developmental option behind their starters.
For the Broncos, they’re likely not looking at selecting Nix with the 12th overall pick. If the front office is interested in drafting Nix, it could involve a potential trade up scenario to land at the end of the first round to secure the ability to have a fifth-year team option on his rookie contract. Or, the Broncos could be trying to trade up from No. 76 to ensure they get their potential QB of the future.
