Demaryius Thomas Says A.J. Green Thanked Him After He Landed his Contract

Denver Broncos wide receiver Demaryius Thomas will remain with the team for at least five more years after inking a generous $70 million contract on Wednesday.

At Thomas’ press conference on Friday, he said that one of the first people to make contact after the signing was Cincinnati Bengals wide receiver, A.J. Green. The message from Green to Thomas was simple, “thank you.”

Thomas and Dallas Cowboys wide receiver Dez Bryant’s new mega deals will predominantly set the market trend for Green and Atlanta Falcons wideout Julio Jones. Both Green and Jones are playing out the fifth-year options on their rookie deals and are up for new contracts in 2016. Green has been on record claiming that he is fine playing out his last year and that he is not hurting for money. He can certainly be thankful that the wheels are already set in motion once he and the Bengals engage in serious talks some time before next March.

As for Thomas, he admitted that he would have skipped training camp but never had any intention of missing regular season games if a contract was not in place. This is opposite of what Bryant indicated had he remained under a franchise tag.

Green likely isn’t the only receiver who is thankful for the outcome of this Wednesday’s major spending splurges.
