Once the 2021 NFL season ended, the Las Vegas Raiders pulled off a blockbuster trade for Davante Adams, hoping he could transform the offense into a high-powered scoring attack rivaled by even the best teams. Yet, Adams and the Raiders have yet to make the playoffs in their two seasons together, and now the future at QB is even more uncertain than last season.

While the Raiders don’t exactly have other options ready to take over at the receiver position, Adams is also 31, and he’s a highly coveted player around the league. In a perfect world, the Raiders find their franchise QB this offseason, and Antonio Pierce’s first season as head coach ends in a postseason appearance at the very least.
But what if the Raiders are still a few years away from competing for a Super Bowl? After an up-and-down season, there’s no telling where this organization is headed, but the belief is that Adams is still untouchable when it comes to trade discussions.
Yet, as mentioned, that won’t prevent teams from trying to trade for the three-time All-Pro anyway.
New York Jets may want Davante Adams, but they can’t afford him
According to NFL insider Tony Pauline, the likelihood of the Las Vegas Raiders entertaining a Davante Adams trade is slim. One of the biggest reasons why, is due to how highly they value their leading receiver.
So, while the New York Jets may dream of reuniting Adams with four-time NFL MVP Aaron Rodgers, they may not have the draft capital to pull off such a massive trade.
After executing the trade for Rodgers last offseason, the Jets are without their second-round pick in the 2024 NFL Draft, and they still have too many holes (offensive line) to address to part with their top pick again.
Pauline’s sources state that the Jets’ current draft capital wouldn’t be enough to trade for Rodgers, with the Raiders likely starting negotiations by asking for both their first-round pick in 2024 and in 2025.
Making such a trade would certainly boost the Jets’ receiving corps, but it would also create even more pressure to win a Super Bowl in the next season or two, knowing they won’t get much help from what would be depleted draft classes.
In other words, don’t expect the Raiders to trade Adams this offseason, but it’s always possible they change their minds by the NFL trade deadline, depending on their success or failure in the 2024 season.
