An NFL season that has been filled with off-field issues has potentially taken another turn. Dalvin Cook of the Minnesota Vikings could be at the forefront of further problems relating to what we’ve seen off the gridiron.

But it might not be what you think. According to ESPN’s Adam Schefter, Cook is allegedly the victim of domestic violence and some sort of extortion scheme.

“Minnesota Vikings’ RB Dalvin Cook is the victim of domestic abuse and extortion – there’s pending litigation, according to his agent Zac Hiller,” Schefter reported on Tuesday.

Schefter continued by noting that the alleged incident took place over a year ago when a “female US Military Sergeant used a stolen garage door opener to enter Cook’s home and attack a guest of Cook’s and Cook.” Allegedly, the unnamed woman maced Cook in the eyes upon entering.

No matter the alleged victim, these allegations must be taken seriously. The best thing to do now is hope for Cook’s continued well being — both from an emotional and physical standpoint. The litigation and accusations will tell us more about what we need to know moving forward. Until then, playing the guessing game is pointless.

A second-round pick out of Florida State back in 2017, Dalvin Cook has morphed into one of the better all-around backs in the NFL. He’s gained 639 total yards and two touchdowns in six games this season. Over the course of the previous three seasons, the 26-year-old Florida native averaged nearly 1,500 total yards and 11 touchdowns.

As for the allegations, we’ll have more information once it becomes available.
