Who’s the best pass-catcher in the 2023 NFL Draft? That’s obviously a subjective question and likely one we won’t have an answer to for at least a few seasons. But one NFL scout is willing to say it’s Utah’s Dalton Kincaid, who’s not even a wide receiver.
Instead the former Utes tight end is viewed as a legitimate first-round prospect and likely the best at his position. While the 2023 talent pool is viewed as a deep class for tight ends, where several teams may be able to find a starter on Day 2, Kincaid may stand above a group that includes Notre Dame’s Michael Mayer and Georgia’s Darnell Washington.
But from a pure pass-catching standpoint? Kincaid may be head and shoulders above all. At least that’s the story from an anonymous scout who spoke to Mike Giardi and suggested Kincaid is the “best” pass-catcher in this draft class at any position.
Another NFL scout said Kincaid reminded him of Kansas City Chiefs All-Pro Travis Kelce. A third scout suggested Kincaid still needed to improve his blocking while noting the 23-year-old could be an instant playmaker at the next level.
Kincaid certainly impressed in college, racking up 890 yards and eight touchdowns in his final season on campus. If he can come anywhere close to those same numbers in the pros, Kincaid should be able to vie for the title of best pass-catcher in the NFL Draft class.
