Four-star Georgia Bulldogs recruit Chace Calicut is in serious trouble after being arrested for using his car, and potentially a gun, to threaten a rival teenager.
On Tuesday, FOX 26 in Houston broke the news of the gifted safeties arrested on July 6. Calicut and friend Isaiah Brice Phillip, both 17, allegedly pulled up behind a male and female classmate with their vehicle. The male victim claims that Calicut then drove in front of them and hit his brakes. Forcing him to quickly hit his own to avoid crashing into Calicut’s vehicle.
The teen then drove around Calicut’s car in an attempt to get away. But the Georgia recruit pulled up next to them again. This time, the male victim claimed he saw Phillip in the passenger seat with a handgun pointed toward him.
Fortunately, the scared teen was able to make a U-turn and drive away from Calicut’s car. But while driving off, he alleges hearing several gunshots, according to court documents. A friend of the victim who was also driving behind them reported seeing Phillip shoot out of his window at the victim’s vehicle.
“The 17-year-old boy says he knows Calicut and Phillip from school, and that Calicut had been threatening him at school and over FaceTime calls for several months,” court documents FOX 26 obtained revealed.
Calicut plays high school at Galena Park (TX) North Shore. The four-star recruit is one of the best safeties in the country, and after receiving serious offers from the Michigan Wolverines and Texas Longhorns, he committed to Georgia just a few weeks ago.
Calicut is being charged with two counts of aggravated assault with a deadly weapon. The punishment for such a charge in Texas can be anywhere from two to 20 years, or a $10,000 fine.
