Auburn Tigers wide receiver Cam Coleman intends to enter the college football transfer portal on Jan. 2, immediately becoming one of the most coveted players on the market this offseason. While he hasn’t officially entered the portal yet, there are already rumors swirling about two programs in the mix to land him.
According to Pete Nakos of On3.com, The Texas Longhorns and Texas A&M Aggies are two “clear early schools” to watch for Coleman. While NIL will be a factor in his decision, the 6-foot-3 wideout will also reportedly be “evaluating” which schools can offer him a chance to play with a proven quarterback.

Texas and Texas A&M both check that box. Arch Manning is returning for the 2026 season, and it has been reported that he agreed to reduce his NIL compensation to help the Longhorns bring in more talent. Coleman, one of the best wide receivers in college football, would immediately become one of the most talented receivers the program has seen in years.
As for the Aggies, the program is looking to fill the looming void created by KC Concepcion declaring for the 2026 NFL Draft. Texas A&M can also point to Concepcion as a success story, given that he transferred from NC State ahead of the 2025 season and became an All-American this fall. He is now projected to be a first-round pick in the 2026 NFL Draft.
With programs like the LSU Tigers, Indiana Hoosiers and Oregon Ducks focused on landing one of the top quarterbacks in the college football transfer portal, a bidding war that could approach $5 million, the Aggies and Longhorns have an opportunity to strike on Coleman in early January.
As for the potential cost of getting him, Nakos reported that Coleman is “expected to command” nearly $2 million in the portal. It’s a figure that could also impact the Ohio State Buckeyes as they work to retain Jeremiah Smith for next season.
