Auburn Tigers wide receiver Cam Coleman intends to enter the college football transfer portal, per ESPN, instantly becoming the best non-quarterback available when the portal opens in January. As Auburn braces to potentially lose one of the best offensive weapons in the country, marquee programs are preparing for a massive bidding war.

Ahead of the college football transfer portal opening on Jan. 2, let’s take a look at the top potential Cam Coleman transfer landing spots.

Texas A&M Aggies

Coleman was originally committed to the Texas A&M Aggies before flipping to Auburn in December 2023. A five-star recruit at the time, rated by 247Sports as the fifth-best player in the 2024 recruiting class, he had been committed to Texas A&M since June of that year. Now, the Aggies could have a chance to get him back. Marcel Reed is returning next season, so Coleman would be walking into a familiar situation and an offense with a high-end starting quarterback. Of note, per Pro Football Focus, 47.6 percent of Coleman’s receptions in 2025 came on passes 20-plus yards downfield. This past season, Reed accounted for 7 passing touchdowns on throws deep downfield. Plus, with KC Concepcion poised to be a first-round pick in the 2026 NFL Draft, the Aggies’ offense has an opening at its No. 1 receiver spot.

Alabama Crimson Tide

A year ago, Cam Coleman and Alabama Crimson Tide wide receiver Ryan Williams were the freshman sensations of college football. Unfortunately for Kalen DeBoer, Williams dealt with injuries this season and seemed to take a massive step back. With Williams now more of a question mark entering his junior year and Germie Bernard a likely top-50 pick in the 2026 NFL Draft, the Crimson Tide have a void to fill in their passing game for next season.

Coleman is an Alabama native who starred at Central High School in Phenix City, just a few hours away from Tuscaloosa. There is another significant connection here, as the Crimson Tide just hired former Auburn offensive coordinator Derrick Nix to take over as their wide receivers coach. Alabama obviously has the resources to offer Coleman the NIL compensation he wants, and if quarterback Ty Simpson returns, this becomes an even more attractive destination.

Texas Longhorns

Arch Manning is returning for the 2026 season, and the Texas Longhorns let everyone who would listen know that their quarterback took an NIL pay cut so the program could bring in more talent. With the Longhorns’ top running backs also hitting the college football transfer portal, Steve Sarkisian can take this as an opportunity to build a high-volume passing attack centered around Coleman. Texas obviously has the resources to offer him whatever he wants, and there would be added appeal for his NFL prospects if he were to become Manning’s No. 1 receiver. While Manning struggled at the start of the season, he was one of the best passers in the nation from Week 9 through the end of the year, recording a 12–2 TD-INT ratio, 8.2 yards per attempt, and a 77.1 percent Adjusted Completion Rate.

Georgia Bulldogs

Kirby Smart and the Georgia Bulldogs got a great look at Coleman this season when they faced him at Auburn on October 11. The 6-foot-3 wideout had a quiet performance (7 receptions for 50 yards), but it is the standout talent that truly matters. With Zachariah Branch entering the 2026 NFL Draft, there is an opening at the No. 1 receiver position in Athens. Coleman is the caliber of playmaker who can elevate quarterback Gunner Stockton next season and provide Georgia’s offense with a matchup winner whom no defense in the country can shut down since he’ll finally have a great quarterback targeting him.

USC Trojans

This might be a bit more of a long shot, as Coleman would move much farther away from home, but the USC Trojans need a go-to weapon with Makai Lemon poised to be a top-15 pick in the 2026 NFL Draft. Not only can the Trojans offer Coleman upwards of $2 million and the opportunity to enjoy the lifestyle in Los Angeles, but he would also step into an offense where he could receive 100-plus targets next fall. Furthermore, in quarterback Jayden Maiava, he would have a passer who finished fifth among qualified Power 4 quarterbacks in Adjusted Completion Rate on deep throws (52.2 percent) on the fourth-most deep passes (67).
