A new report suggests that one of the top quarterback recruits in the nation will soon pass on a chance to play for the defending champion Ohio State Buckeyes and Georgia Bulldogs in 2026.
Ohio State and Georgia are two of the best football programs in the country. The schools have won three of the last four national championships. And the reason they remain among the elite brands in the sport is due to how good Ryan Day and Kirby Smart are in recruiting.

Be it through the transfer portal or by luring the top high school players in the nation, the two head coaches are just as good at recruiting as they are with football Xs and Os. However, they don’t always land the players they want. And that may be the case when it comes to elite Tennessee QB prospect Jared Curtis.
Oregon Ducks close to beating out Ohio State and Georgia Bulldogs for Jared Curtis

South Carolina, Alabama, Auburn, North Carolina, Ohio State, Georgia, and Oregon are among the schools that have been recruiting Nashville Christian quarterback Jared Curtis. However, on Wednesday On3’s Steve Wiltfong reported that the chase is now down to just three teams. Oregon, Georgia, and South Carolina.
Landing with the Georgia Bulldogs or South Carolina Gamecocks would keep the top five prospect close to home. However, Wiltfong, claims the Ducks are quickly becoming the favorites to win the chase for the high school star.
“He spoke highly of the Bulldogs this past week. But talking to several sources regarding this recruitment, I think it’s trending Oregon,” Wiltfong wrote. “… Curtis has really connected with offensive coordinator Will Stein. He’s been out to Eugene twice. Dan Lanning’s in-home visit in January was impressive. This is building up towards Oregon.”
Ohio State and Georgia have to replace a pair of great quarterbacks — Will Howard and Carson Beck — in 2025. If they were hoping to make this a transition year until they get to Curtis in 2026, that is now looking unlikely.
