The NFL has reworked the formation of its competition committee, expanding the committee from nine members to 10, and in the process has added Cincinnati Bengals executive vice president Katie Blackburn to said committee … the first woman to serve in that capacity in the league’s history.
Multiple outlets are reporting that the entity responsible for rules changes and league bylaws is adding four new members and losing three. In addition to Blackburn, Indianapolis Colts coach Frank Reich, Tennessee Titans coach Mike Vrabel and Miami Dolphins general manager Chris Grier are joining the committee.
New Orleans Saints coach Sean Payton, Denver Broncos general manager John Elway and Green Bay Packers president and chief executive officer Mike Murphy are departing.
Members being retained include Dallas Cowboys chief operating officer Stephen Jones, Baltimore Ravens executive vice president Ozzie Newsome, New York Giants owner John Mara, Washington Football Team coach Ron Rivera and Pittsburgh Steelers coach Mike Tomlin.
Blackburn, the granddaughter of legendary coach Paul Brown and daughter of Bengals owner Mike Brown, has been a part of the team’s front office since 1991.
