Los Angeles Chargers receiver Mike Williams spent Tuesday’s OTA in a place that’s become all too familiar to him since he was drafted in 2017 — on the sideline.

Williams, who dealt with injuries for much of his rookie season, sat out of Tuesday’s practice with a mild hamstring strain.

Williams was placed on the PUP list before the 2017 season began. Though he did play 10 games for Los Angeles as a rookie, the concern for his knee never went away. It showed with his performance.

Williams caught only 11 balls for 95 yards in those 10 games. Those numbers look even worse when considering that five of those receptions and 38 of those yards came in one game.

The receiver was taken No. 7 overall by the Chargers in the 2017 NFL Draft. So, even if he didn’t have a good rookie year, that definitely indicates that Los Angeles has big plans for him going forward.

Hopefully, for the sake of the Chargers and Williams, this is nothing more than a purely precautionary measure.
