As the NFL’s offseason quarterback carousel slows down, Carolina Panthers quarterback Cam Newton is still looking to find a home for the 2020 season. While his options are dwindling, Newton should still find a few more opportunities once he’s released.

Once the Panthers release Newton, which is expected due to a lack of interest in the trade market, he could find a few suitors willing to take a chance on the former NFL MVP. There are some compelling options for Newton’s services. Among them, reuniting with head coach Ron Rivera on the Washington Redskins is emerging as the clear favorite.

According to Odds Shark, the Redskins (+200) are the current betting favorite to land Newton and have him on the roster for Week 1 of the 2020 season. Right behind them are the Miami Dolphins and Jacksonville Jaguars (+300). Surprisingly, the Los Angeles Chargers are only the sixth-most favored team (+900)

Due to the COVID-19 epidemic, NFL teams aren’t allowed to bring players into their facilities for a workout or medical testing. That’s especially problematic for Newton, who is recovering from ankle surgery and needs to prove he’s healthy.

Rivera’s relationship with Newton during their time in Carolina would certainly help the team have a little more certainty about the star quarterback’s recovery. Until the Panthers release Newton, though, it will likely be quite some time before he finds a new home.
