Buffalo Bills GM gives huge update on Von Miller’s chances of playing in Week 1

The general manager of the Buffalo Bills offered up a major injury update today on one of the team’s top players.

When the Buffalo Bills signed Von Miller to a massive six-year, $120 million contract in the spring of 2022, the hope was that he would be the final ingredient in a Super Bowl-winning recipe. Much like he was for the Los Angeles Rams when he arrived after the 2021 trade deadline and helped get the franchise their second NFL championship last year.

And after the first 10 games of the season, it seemed like he very well might be the piece that helped take them to new levels as he was a major factor on defense and racked up eight sacks. The Bills had become an even more balanced team and a serious threat to reach the Super Bowl.

However, when Miller tore his ACL in the team’s Week 11 win over the Detroit Lions that was the first key moment in the slow unraveling of a promising season.

The Buffalo Bills head into their 2023 campaign looking to recapture that moment from last season when they were seen as a top title contender in the league and they know they will need Miller back on the field and in peak for me to do that. Well, Monday brought some major news that should make fans hopeful.

While visiting Bills camp today, general manager Brandon Beane spoke to NFL Media league insider Tom Pelissero and revealed that Von Miller was in “a great spot” in terms of his return this season. While he would not confirm the eight-time Pro Bowler would be ready for Week 1 as they take things slowly with his recovery, he did say it was “definitely a possibility.”

At 34 years old, it is understandable why Buffalo would be very cautious with the recovery from such a major injury. Especially with four years left on his contract, and two of those years guaranteed at an annual average of $17 million.
