Bryson DeChambeau made quite the splash on Saturday while announcing the identity of his new caddie.

Brian Zeigler, the lead instructor at Dallas National Golf Club where DeChambeau practices, will be by his side next week when he competes in The Open Championship at Royal St. George’s in Sandwich, England.

DeChambeau made his decision public with a short video that included the former U.S. Open champion jumping into a pool.

“Jumping into the deep end!” the 27-year-old DeChambeau wrote on Instagram. “Excited to have Brian Zeigler joining the team as my new caddie. Can’t wait to have him be a part of the journey. Thank you to my great friend Tim Tucker for everything he has done for me. I am grateful for our friendship.”

DeChambeau and Tucker split prior to the start of his title defense at the Rocket Mortgage Classic in Detroit earlier this month. DeChambeau labeled the parting as “a break” at the time.

“The guy helped me win a major and win eight other times,” DeChambeau told Golf.com. “This is something where, for me, it was really difficult, for us it was really difficult, but at the present moment in time, when it happened, there were a lot of things going on in both of our lives, and from that perspective people think, oh, it was this, it was that, or whatever, but personally, it was not; it was both of us going, you know what, as weird of a timing as people thought it was, it was actually the right time. I’ve got nothing but amazing things to say about Tim.”

Tucker originally became DeChambeau’s caddie in 2016. After separating in 2017, they reunited in 2018 and Tucker has been on the bag for all eight of DeChambeau’s PGA Tour wins, including the 2020 U.S. Open at Winged Foot in New York.
