A fit of frustration landed Atlanta Braves right-hander Huascar Ynoa on the 10-day injured list after he punched a dugout bench following his outing Sunday.
According to Braves manager Brian Snitker, Ynoa could be out as long as two months.
Ynoa was removed from Sunday’s game against the Milwaukee Brewers in the fifth inning and ended up breaking his right hand when he punched the dugout bench. He had just given up five earned runs and nine hits over 4 1/3 innings of an eventual 10-9 defeat.
The 22-year old is 4-2 over nine appearances (eight starts) this season with a 3.02 ERA and was coming off a run of four starts where he allowed just three earned runs combined before he struggled at Milwaukee.
Atlanta recalled right-hander Edgar Santana from Triple-A Gwinnett to replace Ynoa on the roster. Santana had a 6.00 ERA in four appearances with Atlanta earlier this season.
The Braves’ rotation already was without right-hander Mike Soroka, who had exploratory surgery on an Achilles injury from last season that was surgically repaired last year.
