The San Francisco 49ers are still reeling from their heartbreaking defeat in Super Bowl 58, and now one of their top players on offense — and people close to him — are hinting he will be heading to another team in the offseason.
It has only been a few days since Super Bowl LVIII and there has been major fallout in San Francisco after the team blew a late lead and fell to the Kansas City Chiefs in overtime. While it feels too early to start looking ahead to the offseason, as the team and fanbase grieve the shocking defeat, it seems Brandon Aiyuk is already plotting his plans for 2024.
The star wide receiver had a career year in 2023-24 and there have been rumblings for months that 2024 could be in his final year with the franchise as they near a salary cap reckoning that could make him the odd man out. Well, it seems the 25-year-old and his loved ones don’t want to wait until after next season to take his talents elsewhere.

On Monday, Aiyuk took to his Instagram account and posted in a story the words, “Don’t forget what got you there.” Odd but on the surface it doesn’t seem like anything to be worried about. However, on the same day, his girlfriend Rochelle took to her own Insta account and suggested her trip to Levi Stadium that day would be the last for her and the family, which includes Aiyuk’s son Braylon.
Adding more fuel to the fire was a surprising rant from the San Francisco 49ers wide receiver’s brother where he wrote, “This is the exact reason why we leaving San Francisco.” And “Thank you 49ers for drafting my brother and we are forever grateful.”
The posts came following a surprisingly quiet game from Aiyuk in the Super Bowl which his brother Draysean also referenced in another post. “Why does your All-Pro 1300-yard receiver have 3 catches in the Super Bowl??”
The 49ers extended Aiyuk’s contract for 2024 and he is set to make a career-best $14.1 million next season. If the organization did choose to trade him in the offseason, they would have no lack of interested teams for the fast-growing star.
