The Boston Celtics and San Antonio Spurs reportedly inquired about one of the biggest stars traded in a slew of deals over the last week.
The San Antonio Spurs and Boston Celtics had a productive last few days. On Thursday, the Spurs did what the entire basketball world expected and took French phenom Victor Wembanyama with the first pick in the 2023 NBA Draft. While on Wednesday the Celtics landed one-time All-Star Kristaps Porzingis in a blockbuster three-team trade.

Both organizations made a lot of progress this week as San Antonio looks to finally bring the franchise back to the relevancy it had not long ago, and Boston hopes Porzingis is the final ingredient that brings them their first NBA title since 2008.
However, it seems that the two franchises actually had another player in mind as an addition earlier this week. Jordan Poole was shipped off from the Golden State Warriors to the Washington Wizards in a blockbuster deal that saw future Hall-of-Famer Chris Paul end up in California. Well, the Boston Celtics and San Antonio Spurs were also interested in Poole before he was traded to DC.

On Friday, Yahoo Sports insider Jake Fischer spilled some new tea on the Jordan Poole market earlier this week.
“San Antonio registered interest in Poole, league sources told Yahoo Sports, although the Spurs never made a significant offer. There were also conversations between Golden State and Boston, sources said, about sending Poole to the Celtics, before Boston went forward and traded Marcus Smart in the three-team trade with the Grizzlies that brought Kristaps Porziņģis to the TD Garden.”

While Poole would have been a good addition, Porzingis may be a better fit for the Boston Celtics. However, the Warriors star could have been a fun wingman for super prospect Wembanyama in his rookie season. Now he will serve as the top scorer for a rebuilding Wizards franchise.
