With the NBA Draft a day away and the core of the offseason nearly here, the Boston Celtics have reportedly been engaged in various trade talks already this month.
During the Boston Celtics 2022-2023 regular season campaign they were able to maintain their elite level of play and in some ways performed better than they did the previous season. However, when it came to the playoffs it was a different story.

While they were able to make it back to the Eastern Conference Finals in 2023, they came up short of their championship goals and the standard they set in 2022. Their elimination to the Miami Heat in seven games was a frustrating reminder that they are still in need of more adjustments to the roster if they hope to bring the franchise its first title since 2008.
The Boston Celtics won’t be able to bring about much change via the 2023 NBA Draft since they currently have just a lone second-round pick on Thursday night. Furthermore, they don’t have the cap flexibility to add a major player in NBA free agency.

That is why if they are to shake up the roster this summer, it would likely come with the help of a trade, and the team has already been active in seeing what could be available.
In a recent update to their NBA Mock Draft, The Ringer NBA reporter Kevin O’Connor revealed the Boston Celtics have “explored trades involving [their second-round] selection and point guard Payton Pritchard to move up into the first round.” As well as the fact that the organization has been linked to trade talks with the Atlanta Hawks. A team that reportedly is making every player, except for Trae Young, available for trades this summer.
On Wednesday, The Athletic NBA writer Tim Cato revealed that the Dallas Mavericks have an interest in talented 3-and-D talent Grant Williams, who is a restricted free agent next month. The conversations have centered on a possible sign-and-trade deal for the bench star. Cato speculated that the Mavericks’ pick at 10 in the NBA Draft could possibly be in play in a potential deal.
