Boston Bruins goalie Jaroslav Halak tests positive for COVID-19

Boston Bruins goaltender Jaroslav Halak tested positive for COVID-19, coach Bruce Cassidy announced on Monday morning.

Dan Vladar will make his fourth start of the season on Monday night when the Bruins host the Philadelphia Flyers. Vladar, 23, sports a 2-1-0 record with a 2.03 goals-against average and a .929 save percentage.

Jeremy Swayman will serve as Vladar’s backup on Monday.

Halak, 35, owns 9-5-3 record this season with a 2.44 goals-against average, .910 save percentage and two shutouts in 17 games (16 starts) this season.

Halak sports a 281-172-61 mark with a 2.48 GAA, .916 save percentage and 52 shutouts in 537 appearances (516 starts) with the Montreal Canadiens, St. Louis Blues, Washington Capitals, New York Islanders and Bruins.

He won the William M. Jennings Trophy while playing for the Blues in 2011-12 and again in 2019-20 with the Bruins. The annual award is presented to the goaltender(s) having played a minimum of 25 games for the team with the fewest goals scored against it.
