Bills say Josh Allen will start next game if healthy

Matt Barkley and the Buffalo Bills shocked the NFL world on Sunday by putting up 41 points and nearly 500 total yards in a blowout win over the division-rival New York Jets.

Having seen this team tally 20 total points in its previous three games, no one could have envisioned what we saw from Barkley in Week 10. After all, he had just recently signed wth the team and last started a game back in 2016.

Buffalo’s decision to start Barkley over Nathan Peterman was met by mixed reactions from fans. But he ultimately completed 15-of-25 passes for 232 yards with two touchdowns and zero interceptions.

Unfortunately for Barkley, it might be his only start of the season. Bills head coach Sean McDermott stated on Monday that rookie Josh Allen will start their next game in Week 12 should he be healthy enough to play.

There’s no quarterback controversy in Western New York.

At 3-7 on the season, it makes sense that the Bills want their rookie quarterback to get reps. He’s performed better than Peterman and Derek Anderson this season.

Allen has missed each of the past three games with an injured elbow. It was reported prior to Sunday’s game that the Bills believe he’ll be ready to go after the bye.
