Bills’ Josh Allen expected to return after bye week

Instead of going with struggling quarterback Nathan Peterman for Sunday’s game against the New York Jets, Sean McDermott and the Buffalo Bills decided on the recently signed Matt Barkley.

The bad news? Barkley has thrown eight touchdowns compared to 18 interceptions in his career and has not started a game since the 2016 season. The good news? Anything has to be considered better than what we’ve seen from Peterman.

The better news? ESPN’s Adam Schefter is reporting that the Bills expect rookie quarterback Josh Allen to return to action after the team’s bye next week.

Allen has been sidelined each of the past three games. The team has scored a combined 20 points during that span with Buffalo quarterbacks combining for zero touchdowns and seven interceptions.

Allen himself has not been great. But we’re looking at historically bad quarterback play in Western New York. At the very least, he’ll offer some sense of upside once he returns.
