When arguably the greatest coach in NFL history becomes available, you’d think there would be a long list of teams lining up to speak with him about their current head coaching vacancies. Considering five teams are still searching for a new head coach, you would expect Bill Belichick’s phone to be ringing off the hook.
That’s not even counting the many other teams who should probably consider moving on from their current coach to upgrade to a proven mind who brings six Super Bowl rings with him as a head coach.
Yet, there only appears to be one team that’s currently in play for Belichick.
Atlanta Falcons may be the only fit for Bill Belichick
According to NFL insider Jeremy Fowler, only the Atlanta Falcons are currently in play for Bill Belichick.

“I’ve talked to people even involved in the search, or who have interviewed with Atlanta who believe that he’s probably going to get this job. The belief from people I’ve talked to is that this is his sole option right now. It’s not like he’s interviewing for other jobs. I haven’t heard of him in the mix for any of these other opportunities. Certainly if Dallas or Philadelphia had opened, maybe he would be in the mix, so it could be Atlanta or bust.”

Belichick has emerged as a finalist in Atlanta after receiving a second interview with the Falcons, but he’s not the only one included in that second round of meetings.
While Belichick may still be on the radar in Atlanta, so are several other top candidates, including Michigan’s Jim Harbaugh and Belichick’s former player Mike Vrabel, among others.
While other teams could emerge, such as Philadelphia, or teams with a current head coaching vacancy, right now, all the signs point to Belichick landing in Atlanta if he wants to continue coaching. And by all appearances, he’s not ready to retire yet.
