Bears reportedly continue spending spree, to sign WR Taylor Gabriel

The Chicago Bears are doing everything in their power to provide talent on offense for young quarterback Mitchell Trubisky. According to various reports, the team will sign wide receiver Allen Robinson and tight end Trey Burton once free agency opens on Wednesday.

We can now add underrated wide receiver Taylor Gabriel to the mix of players set to catch passes from Trubisky next season.

According to former NFL player Andrew Hawkins, citing Gabriel as the source, he’ll sign a four-year contract with Chicago once free agency opens.

Gabriel, 27, jumped on to the scene for the Falcons back in 2016 after being jettisoned from Cleveland. That season saw him catch 35 passes for 579 yards and six touchdowns en route to helping Atlanta to the NFC Championship. He then put up 33 receptions for 378 yards this past season. All said, Gabriel hauled in 68 percent of his targets in two seasons with the Falcons.

For a receiver-needy Bears team, this is most definitely a solid signing. Adding Gabriel to the mix with Robinson forms a diversified tandem for Trubisky at wide receiver.
