Report: Baylor targeting Sonny Dykes, Larry Fedora and Mike MacIntyre

According to 247.com, reports are surfacing that talks between Baylor and SMU head coach Chad Morris to become the next Baylor football head coach have broken down.

Enter Cal’s Sonny Dykes.

While the 247 report indicates that Baylor has targeted North Carolina’s Larry Fedora and Colorado’s Mike MacIntyre alongside Dykes, Dykes seems to be the only one in the trio who would feasibly take the job.

With Macintyre committed to bringing Colorado back to prominence and Fedora leading a strong North Carolina team, Dykes is the man who makes the most sense for the open Baylor position.

With Cal’s strict academic requirements, as well as the offensive firepower Baylor holds, Dykes leaving to resurrect a dwindling Baylor program that has had major success recently makes a lot of sense.

Regardless, this is a development to keep an eye on as this hire could make or break the Baylor football program for decades to come.
