Baltimore Ravens reportedly could target trade in NFL Draft to appease Lamar Jackson

The Baltimore Ravens could reportedly make a move to trade up in the NFL Draft and select a top player on offense to further convince Lamar Jackson to sign a long-term contract with the organization.

Obviously, free agency and the NFL Draft are two of the biggest stories during every offseason. However, in 2023 one tale has continued to dominate the headlines. Will the Baltimore Ravens and Lamar Jackson finally come to terms on a new long-term extension? Unfortunately, the two sides have been negotiating since last year and have made little progress.

It has led to things getting a little ugly between the two sides with Jackson claiming reports about offers the team has made was fake news and confirming that he asked for a trade out of town last month. Yet, from the Baltimore Ravens’ side, they have been steadfast about their desire for the superstar QB to end his career in Baltimore.

Last week, the franchise made a move many thought could help further sway Lamar Jackson to sign a new deal when they added top free agent wide receiver Odell Beckham Jr. Since the team has failed at placing strong skills players around Jackson during his tenure.

However, despite the two-time Pro Bowler helping to lure Beckham Jr. to Baltimore, his stance on what he wants in a new contract has remained unchanged. Well, the NFL Draft might be the next chance for the Ravens to prove they want to make the offense around their starting QB better.

On Wednesday, ESPN NFL insider Dan Graziano spoke about the Atlanta Falcons’ interest in top running back prospect Bijan Robinson, but also how if he falls passed 12, the Baltimore Ravens could pounce.

“If Robinson starts to slide toward the Ravens’ spot at No. 22, I’d watch them as a possibility to move up for him. Baltimore is focused on adding playmakers in an attempt to show Lamar Jackson it’s serious about bringing him back and building a better offense around him.”

Lamar Jackson has yet to sign his non-exclusive franchise tag tender from the Baltimore Ravens or been offered a deal by a rival franchise.
