The Baltimore Orioles reportedly could be a serious contender in a potential Shohei Ohtani trade market due to the fact that they have many pieces that would “appeal” to the Los Angeles Angels.
There have been quite a few big stories during the 2023 MLB season, but few have been as interesting as the Baltimore Orioles’ strong play this season. The promise they showed last year has continued and the team has evolved into one of the best in the league this year.

Heading into the stretch run of the season, the team is in the thick of not just the Wild Card race but at being the American League East champions for the first time in nearly a decade. There is a chance the team could add an impact piece ahead of the Aug. 1 MLB trade deadline, but new rumors suggest they could be a contender to make the biggest trade in the league this month.
The Shohei Ohtani trade talk has started to heat up over the last week. After weeks of resistance, it was reported over the weekend that the Los Angeles Angels are in “listening mode” on possible trades for their MVP candidate. The team is quickly falling out of playoff contention and they need to seriously consider moving him and getting a historic return or potentially lose him this winter in free agency.

Baltimore Orioles seen as a prime contender for Shohei Ohtani
In recent days, unsurprisingly, the New York Yankees, Los Angeles Dodgers, and San Francisco Giants have been linked to an Ohtani trade. However, there have been rumblings that the Baltimore Orioles could be an even better trade partner for the Angels.
Is Shohei Ohtani fluent in english? While Ohtani has a basic understanding of English, he does not speak it fluently and uses a translator.
On Monday, MLB Network league insider Jon Morosi added to the growing speculation when he said “The Orioles really do have a lot of appeal as a potential trade partner for the Angels because the Orioles have the kind of young talent that could entice the Angels to at least consider moving the great, Shohei Ohtani.”
Morsi claims what makes Baltimore so appealing is they could get the type of return that could keep them competitive immediately instead of down the line. This is not the case with other potential suitors. He also added that his ability to pitch the rest of this season would be the biggest key for the Orioles.
Ohtani has developed a blister issue on his throwing hand recently.
