The Baltimore Orioles are planning to promote one of their top prospects in the hopes that it can give the team a boost offensively from the middle of their infield.
The Baltimore Orioles have been one of the best stories in MLB this season. With June coming to a close, the team has the second-best record in the American League, and third-best overall. They have played well in each facet of the game, but what makes their performance this season so intriguing is it has been helped by strong play from their young everyday players.

However, for as good as youngsters like Gunnar Henderson, Adley Rutschman, and Ryan Mountcastle have been, the Baltimore Orioles are not scoring at the pace of other top teams like the Tampa Bay Rays, Texas Rangers, and Atlanta Braves. If they hope to finish this run to the playoffs and make an impact in the postseason, they need to find ways to boost their offensive production, especially from the players up the middle.

Heading into the week, second basemen have a slash line of .230/.285/.363, and their shortstops have been even worse with a line of .218/.266/.368. Yet, the team believes they may have an answer waiting in the wings and they plan to bring them to the big league roster soon.
On Sunday night, it was reported that the Baltimore Orioles plan to promote top-five prospect Jordan Westburg. The young start is ranked third overall on MLB.com for all Orioles prospects and is a shortstop by trade, but he can offer a solid option at second and third.
So far this season he has been raking it at the organization Triple-A affiliate. In 65 games with the Norfolk Tides, he has a slash line of .295/.372/.567, with 18 home runs and 57 runs batted in. The one obvious standout for the Mississippi State star is his obvious power.
He has hit 15 or more home runs every season in the Baltimore Orioles farm system and mashed an impressive 27 homers in 2022 playing in both Double-A and Triple-A.
