The Oakland Athletics are likely headed to the playoffs and are trying to chase down the Houston Astros for the AL West title. But Oakland’s starting rotation continues to take hits in the midst of a tight race.

The A’s placed starter Brett Anderson on the 10-day disabled list on Tuesday with a strained left forearm.

Anderson now joins fellow starter Sean Manaea, who was placed on the DL on Sunday, in a rotation ravaged by injuries. According to Susan Slusser of The San Francisco Chronicle, Oakland has lost 13 pitchers to the disabled list this season, making the team’s record all the more impressive.

Entering Tuesday’s action, the Athletics are 2.5 games behind Houston in the AL West and 4.5 up on the Seattle Mariners in the race for the AL’s second Wild Card spot.

Anderson has made 13 starts for Oakland in 2018. In those outings, he’s posted a 4.02 ERA and 1.25 WHIP.
