Arizona Diamondbacks place Ketel Marte (hamstring) on 10-day IL

The Arizona Diamondbacks placed versatile outfielder/infielder Ketel Marte on the 10-day injured list Monday with a strained left hamstring.

The move was made retroactive to Sunday.

Also on Monday, the Diamondbacks recalled right-hander Humberto Castellanos from Triple-A Reno. It marks his fourth stint with the team this season.

Marte, 27, left Saturday’s 10-1 win over the San Diego Padres after singling in the first inning and aggravating the injury. He had missed the two previous games after being removed from Tuesday’s 5-0 loss at the Milwaukee Brewers on a similar play.

A right hamstring injury earlier this season led to a stint on the injured list for Marte, who was sidelined from April 8 to May 18.

Marte is batting .370 with four home runs and 21 RBIs in 37 games this season. The 2019 All-Star is a career .288 hitter with 60 home runs and 257 RBIs in 629 games with the Seattle Mariners (2015-16) and Diamondbacks.

Castellanos, 23, owns an 0-1 record with a 3.24 ERA in five relief appearances with Arizona this season. He sports an 0-2 mark with a 5.21 ERA in 13 career relief appearances with the Houston Astros (2020) and Diamondbacks.
