Arizona Diamondbacks left-hander Madison Bumgarner is scheduled to undergo an MRI on his pitching shoulder after he felt discomfort during Wednesday’s start against the New York Mets.

Bumgarner told reporters that his shoulder has been bothering for him for several weeks, but the pain intensified Wednesday. The Mets battered him for five runs on eight hits in two innings. He walked none and struck out two.

For the season, Bumgarner is 4-5 with a 5.73 ERA in 12 starts. He is in his second season with the Diamondbacks after spending his first 11 seasons with the San Francisco Giants.

The 31-year-old is a four-time All-Star but has been plagued by injuries in recent years.
