Oakland Raiders receiver Antonio Brown is embracing the victim role fervently as he continues to fight the NFL over his helmet preference.
In a preview for Episode 3 of HBO’s “Hard Knocks,” Brown said he “felt like I was the enemy of the state” amid his ongoing foot and helmet sagas.
It’s AB against the world these days, make no mistake about it.
This helmet that Brown wants to wear — a Schutt Air Advantage — has been tested and falls well short of the NFL’s safety standard these days, per Peter King of NBC Sports.
Brown, despite receiving an ultimatum to be “all in or all out” with the Raiders following a tantrum-fueled skipped practice Sunday, continues to remain somewhat apart from Oakland.
He attended a team meeting Monday after said ultimatum, but despite teammate Derek Carr’s assertion that Brown could practice, he remained off the field amid his continued fight to wear an old helmet the league has banned.
Though, when you realize just how deep the love Brown has for his helmet goes, it does kind of make sense. Even if the whole saga is a bit ludicrous.
