Antonio Brown is still waiting for another opportunity in the NFL after a disastrous 2019 season led to him being cut twice. Now, despite facing a potential suspension for off-field issues, the All-Pro receiver is expected to return to the field for the 2020 NFL season.
Will Antonio Brown play again in the NFL?
Brown, a seven-time Pro Bowl selection, is eyeing a return to the NFL coming off a year that saw him in the headlines for all the wrong reasons. While a potential suspension hangs over his availability for the 2020 season, a bunch of teams are interested in signing Brown.
Of course, as detailed by NFL Network’s Ian Rapoport, no club is likely to make a move until the NFL concludes its investigation into accusations of sexual misconduct by two separate women and determines a punishment for his other off-field troubles.
While it remains a significant hurdle to return and will likely impact the contract Brown eventually signs, Rapoport expects Brown to be back in the NFL this season.
The 32-year-old receiver has already been connected to the Seattle Seahawks, Baltimore Ravens and Washington football team. Rapoport also notes that the Houston Texans, who traded away All-Pro receiver DeAndre Hopkins, are interested in Brown.
It’s still not known when the NFL will announce the conclusion of its investigation and reveal the length of Brown’s suspension. The situation is more complex, given the variety of issues.
In addition to the sexual misconduct allegations, Brown pleaded no contest in June to a felony burglary with battery charge stemming from an incident in January.
If he can return to the field this season, Brown will make a tremendous impact. He posted six consecutive seasons with 1,200-plus receiving yards, 100-plus receptions and nine-plus touchdowns before everything unraveled this past year.
