Could Washington Redskins sign Antonio Brown?

Antonio Brown catches pass before game

The Washington Redskins proved this offseason that they are committed to Dwayne Haskins as their quarterback of the future. Could that lead to the team potentially signing All-Pro receiver Antonio Brown? It seems the possibility exists.

Ron Rivera won’t close the door on signing Antonio Brown

Redskins head coach Ron Rivera knows Haskins needs more talent around him to be successful. The young quarterback is looking to take the next step in his NFL career and already has chemistry with Brown.

Brown and Haskins worked out together last year and even spent some time practicing routes this offseason. After seeing his quarterback drop some dimes to Brown in May, Rivera wouldn’t close the door on eventually signing the All-Pro receiver.

Of course, Brown doesn’t just have to wait for Washington’s young receivers to be evaluated by the coaching staff. He is also facing a looming suspension from the NFL and is facing multiple charges for an alleged assault in January, per ESPN. Meanwhile, the league is still investigating him for two separate allegations of sexual misconduct.

Antonio Brown’s stats prove the impact he could have on Redskins’ offense

While signing Brown could lead to Washington being without the star receiver for a chunk of the season, the talent is undeniable. A seven-time Pro Bowl selection, Brown was also voted first-team All-Pro from 2014-’17.

Even after missing a majority of the 2019 season, the 31-year-old could still make a tremendous impact. He compiled 100-plus receptions and over 1,2000 receiving yards across six consecutive seasons before everything fell off the rails last year.

Rivera wants to establish a strong culture in Washington’s locker room, which makes signing Brown more risky. However, if the team ultimately decides the risk is worth the reward, Brown would help Haskins take a tremendous leap in his second season.
