Stud Minnesota Timberwolves sophomore guard Anthony Edwards had struggled a tad heading into Wednesday night’s game against the Denver Nuggets.

The 2021 NBA Rookie of the Year runner-up was shooting 40% from the field over his past nine games, averaging a mere (by his standards) 18.9 points.

Boy, did that change against the Nuggets on the road. Edwards had it going big time throughout the game, hitting dagger after dagger in the final stanza.

All said, Anthony Edwards dropped 38 points on 14-of-21 shooting. That included an absurd 10-of-14 mark from three-point range. You read that right, the kid nailed all but four of his 14 three-point shots. Check out the dagger, which sent Nuggets fans inside Ball Arena heading for the exits.

From pretty much the logo. Talk about cold-blooded. As ESPN notes, the 20-year-old Edwards becomes the youngest player in NBA history to connect on 10-plus three-pointers in the same game. It came amid an outing in which the Wolves would come out on top by the score of 124-107.

“He’s had a lot of these type of games. Not a lot, but we’ve seen enough of these type of games to know that he has it in him,” head coach Chris Finch said of Anthony Edwards, via Sportsnaut’s Dane Moore. “His challenge is not to do this every night, but back up these type of performances.”

Edwards’ numbers are up clear across the board after he put up a darn good rookie season. The former No. 1 pick looks to be every bit the part of a star that the Wolves have been searching for over the past several years.

The hope here is that he can become more consistent for a squad that has had its ups-and-downs throughout the 2021-22 season.
