Adrian Peterson chimes in on Trent Williams’ holdout: ‘It’s been a struggle’

Adrian Peterson applied a bit of leverage against the Washington Redskins with comments made about holdout left tackle Trent Williams.

Speaking with ESPN’s Josina Anderson, Peterson made it clear that the offense is having issues compensating for the loss, noting “it’s been a struggle.”

Williams is said to be determined to never again play for Washington. He is reportedly very upset about the way the team’s training staff treated a medical scare with his scalp that required multiple offseason surgeries. A former teammate, Su’a Cravens, has since come to Williams’ defense and accused Washington of mishandling injuries and then lying about them to the media.

When asked if he thought Williams’ mind could be changed on this, Peterson said no, but then said he wouldn’t be surprised if Williams never comes back, or if he does.

The bottom line here is that Williams is a seven-time Pro Bowl left tackle who really is among the best the NFL has to offer. Washington is having a heck of a time replacing him, and honestly, nobody can.

So, reading between the lines, it sure sounds like Peterson wants Washington to do whatever it takes to get Williams back in the fold.
