Aaron Rodgers is not present for organized team activities with the Green Bay Packers.
According to multiple reports, Rodgers remains in California working out on his own and was not expected to join the team at their practice facility near Lambeau Field.
Phase 3 of the OTA workouts began Monday. Rodgers did not attend either of the first two phases of this offseason program but previously had been a regular attendee in offseason workouts in Wisconsin.
Rodgers and the Packers are locked in a simmering standoff. Rodgers reportedly has told the Packers he will not play for the team next season.
But team president Mark Murphy and general manager Brian Gutekunst vowed not to part with the reigning MVP.
If Rodgers continues to stay away from the team into training camp in July, he can be fined up to $50,000 daily.
The overarching issue between Gutekunst and Rodgers came to the surface prior to the 2021 NFL Draft, but underlying friction has existed since the Packers drafted quarterback Jordan Love in the first round of the 2020 draft.
Rodgers reportedly was approached about a pay cut and suggested a trade instead.
Per multiple reports, a number of members of management and head coach Matt LaFleur have taken trips to meet with Rodgers in person.
At rookie minicamp following the draft, LaFleur said again the Packers wanted Rodgers to return “in the worst way.”
