San Francisco 49ers star Deebo believes the Philadelphia Eagles defense has weaknesses in their secondary and used the game-changing blunder by James Bradberry late in Super Bowl LVII as proof that his hot take last week was accurate.

With the 49ers and Eagles likely to be NFC contenders over the next few years, there is a strong possibility a rivalry between the two teams could develop, especially after Philadelphia ended San Francisco’s season two weeks ago in the NFC Championship. However, the 49ers wide receiver only increased that likelihood with some comments during Super Bowl week.

In an interview with the “I Am Athlete” podcast last week, Samuel claimed the weakness in Philadelphia’s outstanding defense was in their secondary. And that outside of cornerback Darius Slay, the unit’s front seven made their secondary look far better than they actually are. He even took a shot at All-Pro James Bradberry by calling him”trash.”

Well, when Bradberry received a penalty that sealed the Philadelphia Eagles’ fate on Sunday in the Super Bowl, Deebo Samuel saw an opportunity to kick the team and their fanbase while they were down.

In the final minutes of Super Bowl LVII, Bradberry was hit with a defensive holding penalty on third down that extended the Kansas City Chiefs’ drive and allowed them to milk the clock before kicking an eventual game-winning field goal. If not for the penalty, the Eagles would have had close to a minute and a half to drive down the field and tie or win the game.

After the game, Samuel took to his Twitter and responded to a tweet mentioning his previous comments by writing, “believe me now,” followed by three laughing emojis. Minutes later he continued his attack on the Eagles by tweeting, “Had no reason worrying about what we was saying in media wanted to tweet about us should of been focused on game.”

The second tweet was in reference to claims by 49ers players before the Super Bowl that comments made by the 49ers motivated them for their NFC Championship victory.

The 2023 NFL schedule has not yet been released, but one can only hope, Philadelphia Eagles vs. San Francisco 49ers is on it for next season.
