This is not how the Cleveland Browns and quarterback Baker Mayfield wanted to open the 2020 NFL season against the division-rival Baltimore Ravens.
Coming off a mistake-filled sophomore campaign, the hope was that Mayfield had turned the corner. If the Browns’ first possession of 2020 is any indication, that has not happened.
Facing a third-and-10 early, Mayfield threw his first interception of the season into the hands of star Ravens cornerback Marlon Humphrey.
That’s a rookie mistake right there, and it’s just not acceptable. Mayfield needs to see the underneath coverage. You can’t be making these types of throws entering your third year as a starter in the NFL. It really is that simple.
Mayfield, 25, threw 21 interceptions and fumbled the ball six times last season.
