Rutgers is just the latest school that has been forced to shut down workouts to some degree this summer. Chase Goodbread of NFL.com provided a look into the full list of schools that have had to take similar measures.

Michigan State football quarantining for 14 days due to COVID-19

The Rutgers news comes just one day after Michigan State was forced to enact the exact same protocol.

Following one positive COVID-19 result Thursday that shut down voluntary workouts, on Friday two more positive tests, and the contact tracing that followed, put the entire Spartans team into quarantine and isolation for 14 days.

2020 college football season in serious jeopardy

Other schools, such as the University of California, Berkeley, have moved to online-only classes for all students this fall. The Pac-12 and Big Ten have already announced conference-only schedules for the 2020 college football season, if it happens at all.

NCAA President Mark Emmert recently put the entire season in doubt with sober comments about the COVID-19 caseload in America. Then on Friday, the NCAA Board of Governors agreed to punt on any decisions for the season. Instead, they will continue to see how things play out around the nation.

Needless to say, these types of developments, which are happening before other students are even on campus, are not encouraging as we hope for college football in 2020.
