Dallas Cowboys running back Ezekiel Elliott did a Zoom call with reporters Wednesday and dropped a bombshell. He isn’t completely sold on the NFL playing games this fall.
Ezekiel Elliott among Cowboys, Texans players who tested positive for coronavirus
Last week, stunning news broke around the NFL when Elliott was identified as one of several Dallas Cowboys and Houston Texans players who tested positive for COVID-19. He wasn’t happy about his identity being revealed, but in the aftermath of the reports his agent confirmed Elliott had tested positive.
On Wednesday during the Zoom call, Elliott gave an update on his health situation. He shared that he felt short of breath for a couple days but that he’s feeling better now. Though, he still hasn’t started working out.
Ezekiel Elliott concerned about spreading COVID-19
During his discussion with reporters, Elliott shared some eyebrow-raising news, which is that he’s not completely sold on playing in 2020.
To be sure, this isn’t the first time we’ve heard an NFL star express skepticism about playing this season. But Elliott is a veritable superstar in the NFL, and if he sat out of the season it would be a significant story.
Without Ezekiel Elliott, Cowboys would miss his prolific stats
Last year when Elliott held out for a new contract, Tony Pollard showed some promise during the preseason. However, there isn’t a single player on the Dallas roster that can produce like Elliott does. Simply put, he’s one of the most productive running backs in the NFL, and he can do it all for the ‘Boys.
Last season, Elliott rushed for 1,357 yards with 12 touchdowns. He also caught 54 passes for 420 yards and two touchdowns. If he were to sit out in 2020, Dallas would almost certainly have to become much more dependent upon Dak Prescott and the passing game.
