The New York Jets have yet to work out a long-term deal with All-Pro safety and former top-10 pick Jamal Adams. In fact, things don’t seem to be trending in a positive direction between the two. That’s now been taken to a whole new level.
Jamal Adams calls out Jets in a big way
Reports surfaced earlier on Friday that the Cleveland Browns are in the midst of talking to star defensive end Myles Garrett about a contract that would make him one of the richest players in the game.
Selected a handful of spots after Garrett went No. 1 overall in the 2017 NFL Draft, Adams has made it clear he’s not happy with the Jets. He doubled down on that in response to the report that Garrett could get paid big time.

Adams, 24, is in the midst of a rookie-level four-year, $22.23 million deal with the Jets. They have already picked up the estimated $9.87 million option on Adams’ deal for the 2021 season, too. Set to earn a base salary of just $825,000 this upcoming season, Adams is rightfully upset about his current deal.
The former LSU standout would likely be looking at a record-breaking contract on the open market, surpassing the $14.6 million Eddie Jackson is currently earning on his deal with the Chicago Bears.

Having earned two Pro Bowl nods and being named an All-Pro once in his first three NFL seasons, it’s not surprising that teams have talked to New York about the safety.
Up until this point, the Dallas Cowboys have been the team most talked about relating to Adams. In fact, they made a strong offer to the Jets in the past. Given Adams’ public condemnation of the Jets’ organization, one has to wonder if general manager Joe Douglas will reengage in trade talks with other teams.
