The Tennessee Titans were facing a deadline later this month when it comes to two of their young 2017 NFL Draft picks.
They made one of those decisions on Friday, declining the fifth-year option on wide receiver Corey Davis’ contract for the 2021 season.
The No. 5 overall pick back in 2017, Davis has not lived up to expectations in the NFL. He tallied just 43 receptions for 601 yards as a third-year player this past season. That’s not the type of production Tennessee expected when it reached for the Western Michigan product a few years back.
If the Titans had decided to pick up the option on Davis’ contract, he would have cost them a pretty penny. It’s no surprise they declined said option.
